Dental Implants are metal posts or frames that are surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums. Once in place, they allow Doctor Laconi
to mount replacement teeth onto them.
How do Dental Implants Work?
Because implants fuse to your jawbone, they provide stable support for artificial teeth. Denture and bridges mounted to implants won't slip in your mouth- as well as individual crowns placed over implants.
What to Expect During Procedure?
The procedure for the implant may take 1-2 hours depending on the number of implants. When you are comfortable, Doctor Laconi will make a small incision in the gum tissue to reveal the bone, creates space using special instruments, and gently inserts the post implant. The top of the implant is often visible through the gum.The number of returning appointments and time required vary from patient to patient. Typically the healing time is 6 months from placement of the implant post. Once healed, the permanent crown, bridge or denture is placed over the post.
What Are The Potential Problems?
Although it is natural to be concerned about the pain that may by caused by these procedures, most patients do not experience severe or significant post-operative pain. Occasionally, some people develop post-operative infections that require antibiotic treatment.
How Long Will The Implants Last?
Implants usually last a long time. For patients missing one or several teeth, recent studies show a success rate of a Dental Implant greater than 95%.
